Luyen Chou is chief learning officer at 2U, Inc., overseeing the company’s vision and standards for the learning experience across all products. Previously, he served as the chief product officer of Trilogy Education. In this capacity, he oversaw academics, product management, and technology.
Prior to joining Trilogy, Chou served in a variety of product leadership roles at Pearson. Most recently, he was the company’s chief product strategy officer with responsibility for the company’s global product portfolio strategy. He also served as senior vice president, product strategy, and as chief product officer for the K-12 Technology group. Chou joined Pearson in 2011 through the acquisition of Schoolnet, a leading provider of data-driven curriculum and assessment solutions for K-12 school districts and states, where he served as chief product officer.
Before joining Schoolnet in 2006, Chou was the associate head of The School at Columbia University—an independent K-8 laboratory school on the campus of Columbia University in New York City. He also served as executive director of the Center for Integrated Learning and Teaching, a research organization affiliated with The School and Columbia University.
Prior to working at Columbia University, Chou was founder, president, and CEO of LearnTech, a developer and publisher of innovative educational software tools and applications.
Chou has a long history working with technology in the classroom, having served as director of the New Laboratory for Teaching and Learning at The Dalton School in New York City, and as a high school history and social studies teacher. He collaborated on the development of a number of innovative computer-based and traditional curriculum projects, including an award-winning curriculum on New York City during the Civil War.
