In 2014, 2U launched a new charitable initiative with Pencils of Promise (PoP), a for-purpose nonprofit organization that has built more than 300 schools for children across Africa, Asia and Latin America. Through the initiative, 2U and its employees are raising funds to bring life-changing education to children in Guatemala, supporting PoP’s efforts to build schools, train teachers and provide scholarships.
Joining together with Chip [Paucek] and 2U was especially exciting to me, as we share a fundamental mission to provide educational opportunities for students around the world, whether they be children in Guatemala or graduate students in the Middle East.
In 2015, 2U will send a group of employees to Guatemala to participate in learning activities with students in PoP schools. 2U employees around the globe are participating in the initiative, representing offices in Landover, Maryland; New York City; Los Angeles; Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and Hong Kong.
For the second consecutive year, 2U was honored with a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award, recognizing the top 50 Best Places to Work in 2015 among small-and-medium-sized companies. Selection for this award relies solely on the input of employees, who choose to provide feedback on their jobs, work environments and companies via Glassdoor’s anonymous online company reviews survey.
This year’s award follows previous honors from Glassdoor, including 2U having been named as one of the Best Places to Work in 2014 in the small-and-medium-sized businesses category, as well as 2U CEO and Co-Founder Chip Paucek having been recognized as one of the Highest Ranking CEOs of 2014.
