Erin Russell Schmidt is 2U’s Chief of Staff, Office to the CEO. Her far-reaching experience in education spans across operations, customer service, and client management. Schmidt's particular areas of expertise include building teams, strategic planning, process improvement, and execution—all skills that are critical for the chief of staff role.
Schmidt joined 2U in 2015. During her tenure, she has held various positions within the operations department, including running technical support and faculty-facing teams. Prior to 2U, she worked in K-12 in leadership and various teaching positions.
Schmidt earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University, where she also played division I lacrosse. She later went on to receive her Master of Arts in Teaching at Loyola University of Maryland. Schmidt lives in Severna Park, Maryland, with her husband and two young children. In her spare time, she likes to run, garden, and spend time outside and near the water with her family.
