As Chief Operating Officer (COO) at 2U, Matt Leavy oversees all partner-facing operations and product teams, ensuring the seamless delivery of high-impact education experiences. A seasoned executive with over 20 years of leadership experience in education technology, Leavy has a proven track record of driving innovation and scaling operations.
Before joining 2U, Leavy served as Executive Vice President of Operations at Wiley, where he led global university services, education, and publishing businesses. Prior to that, he spent more than 15 years at Pearson, holding multiple leadership roles focused on accelerating learning technologies and optimizing existing online program management (OPM) businesses. Leavy’s ability to blend data-driven decision-making with a deep understanding of the evolving education landscape has made him a transformative leader in the industry.
Beyond his executive positions, Leavy has contributed his expertise as a board member for UTEL Universidad and Safari Books Online, where he also served as interim CEO.
Leavy holds a B.S. in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Georgetown University. He currently resides in Denver with his wife and sole remaining high schooler with four other children already out in the world. Most weekends you will find Matt sitting on a bike or standing in a river with a fly rod in hand.
